For Advent, Christmas and Epiphany, this new devotional combines the words of the Psalms, meditations from the Church Fathers and a prayer as a guide for the reader through the various twists and turns on the journey to our Lord's Nativity.
These beloved words from Scripture mirror our own thoughts and emotions—hope and expectation, suffering and patience, confession and healing—and are as relevant today for the modern spiritual reader as when they were first sung in the Temple.
“An inspiring, and deeply experiential journey through the Psalms of the Advent season. The author takes us on a pilgrimage within with a steady and enriching guide to the great feast of the Savior’s birth.”—Abbot Primate Gregory Polan, OSB, Sant’Anselmo, Rome, Primate of the Benedictine Confederation
“Reading the Psalms daily year by year, season by season, is formative. Before you know it your thinking and perceiving about God, about the world and about yourself will steadily be transformed.” —Mary Collins, OSB, Professor Emerita, School of Theology and Religious Studies, Catholic University of America, Washington, DC
“Rightly convinced that the Psalms are prayers flowing from the soul of Christ—testifying forever, indeed, to what St. Paul called ‘the mind of Christ’—the author of this book provides clear meditations on various Psalms appropriately prayed during Advent and the Christmas season. Recommended.”—Patrick Henry Reardon, author of Christ in the Psalms, Editor, Touchstone Magazine
