This exciting paraphrase on a familiar hymn tune is based on the model of early Bach chorale preludes: a harmonization of a phrase followed by an improvised flourish with more chromatic harmony. One can also hear the influence of Bach’s Toccata in D minor in the manual writing. Of easy to medium difficulty, this would be a great hymn introduction as well as voluntary on the hymn tune.
