This exquisite setting of the Beatitudes takes its text from the Russian liturgy. The music's static nature is also influenced by Russian sacred music, as is the voicing which lends a richness and depth to the choral sound. Throughout, women's and men's voices are used alternately to express the nature of the text. The work ends with a rich harmonization of the words, "when you come in your kngly power." The vocal parts stay in the middle and low range and the style is homophonic; lending a hymn-like atmosphere to the work.
