The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Poland and the Katowice Polish Radio and Television Orchestra perform the works of Polish composer Wojcieck Kilar. A celebrated film composer, and one of Poland's premiere symphonic composers, Kilar has been strongly influenced by the works of John Cage, and the classical compositions and indigenous folk music of his native Poland. "Requiem Father Kolbe" is the original score for the film "A Life for a Life", the story of Father Maximilen Kolbe. The remaining works on this recording showcase Kilar's ability to express musically the beauty and complexity of his homeland, and his great love for it.
