Brian William Luckner is Director of Music and organist at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph the Workman in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, a position he has held since 1988. Prior to this appointment, he was the Assistant in Liturgical Music at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. Other church positions include Church of the Guardian Angels in Cincinnati and Christ Episcopal Church in Oberlin, Ohio.
Brian Luckner holds the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in organ performance from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, and the Bachelor of Music degree in organ performance from the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music. He won first place in the graduate division of the University of Cincinnati Organ Competition in 1981, and second place in 1983. While at Oberlin, he was elected to the National Honorary Music Society, Pi Kappa Lambda, and shared the Selby Houston Memorial Award in Organ and Theory. Dr. Luckner's teachers have included Roberta Gary, Garth Peacock, Margaret Irwin-Brandon, and Philip Hodel. He studied harpsichord with William Porter and Lisa Crawford.
