Reminiscent of the sacred motets of Francis Poulenc, Dr. Faulkner's setting of this communion text has a pulsating motion as each phrase contains rests to highlight various words and phrases. Rhythmic patterns and harmonies are quietly understated and refined. Each line is placed within the warmest part of its respective range, adding a nautral vocal richness to the texture. This work is particularly appropriate as a Lenten or Advent communion anthem or meditation.
